About Turtle Mountain Tribal Arts Association
Mission statement:
The mission of the Turtle Mountain Tribal Arts Association is to empower Turtle Mountain artists, to foster, promote and preserve their art, heritage and culture. Through ongoing business leadership trainings, art projects and art presentations TMTAA is presenting the community with an opportunity to become self-sufficient in the art world through collaborations between the local artists and TMTAA, building a bridge of artistic understanding to better serve the local artists, their families and the community.
Vision:
We believe in assisting every Chippewa/Métis artist of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa to become empowered through their art. We believe individual empowerment is derived through the traditional art, heritage and culture that continue to be passed down through the generations.
Values:
TMTAA values are reflected in the way we live our daily lives, according to the Seven Sacred Teachings of the Chippewa/Métis: Nbwaakaawin/Wisdom, Zaagidwin/Love, Mnaadendmowin/Respect, Aakdehewin/Bravery, Qwekwaadizinwin/Honesty, Dbaadendizwin/Humility, and Debwewin/Truth.
