In September 2015 TMTAA was awarded a NACBI grant, which is being utilized to develop a Native American Dance Troop. The project consists of 4 phases, beadwork, regalia creation, basket making and dance choreography. A group of Turtle Mountain community members started a new bead project a few months ago to create a beaded belt buckle and beaded hatband. Each participant has created a design to suit them and has been working on their new creations.

On July 27th & 28th, TMTAA will host First Peoples Fund, Rapid City SD, “Native Artist Professional Development Training”. The two-day training will help build entrepreneurial skills in both master artists and beginning artists. On June 12th, the Heart of the Turtle Minot ND took part in the Minot Summer Wine Walk, with 693 people visiting the gallery that evening from 5:00 to 9:30 pm. This was another great opportunity for the Minot community to stop in and find out what Heart of the Turtle is all about.
